TOWN AND COUNTY TAXES

The United States Postal Service updated its explanation on how their postmark process works. As of December 2025, it clarifies that a postmark now revolves around when a piece of mail get sto a regional processing hub. Rather than when it gets to a local post office potentially causeing a 1-3 day delay before the offical postmark date, impacting deadlines for taxes, bills, and ballots.

To ensure tax payments are received before the due date, the following are ways to ensure this:

  • You can go inside the post office and request a manual postmark stamp at the counter
  • Pay in person at the Town Clerk office to avoid any late fees
  • You can use Certified/Registered mail
